Mini’s ears are HUGE. Her listening skills? Terrible.
Two giant ears. One distracted elephant. And one very BIG listening problem.
Mini has the biggest ears in town … but she’s a terrible listener! From missing important instructions to forgetting what she’s been told two seconds later, Mini just can’t seem to pay attention. After trying all sorts of hilarious ways to “fix” her ears, Mini discovers that it’s not the size of your ears that count, but how you use them!
Will ensure children love spending time with this pair and learn plenty of things along the way. Problem solving, working together and how to be a supportive friend are at the heart of Mini and Milo’s story.
The text is succinct and delightful; the illustrations are absolutely charming. I loved every word, every illustration, and every page of Mini & Milo: The Big Flappy Ears. It is a treat for all ages to be enjoyed for its message and its endearingly sweet humour.
The Mini and Milo series create situations where cooperation is at its centres and children reading will see that problems can be solved through cooperation and trying things out, particularly after asking a friend for help.
I highly recommend The Big Flappy Ears.
Because there will always be times we all need to work out what we are feeling, and children’s books can be a safe and judgement-free way and place to do this, and the simplicity can really help readers find out how to talk about what they are feeling.
I especially liked the way Mini’s voice was shown as a smaller, kind of invisible version of Mini herself, just a line drawing, while the real Mini and Milo and other elements of the story were in full colour. I loved The Teeny-Tiny Voice, and look forward to reading more of Mini and Milo.
